Richard J Grenier

Richard John Grenier, 68, of Concord, NH, formerly of the Sunapee/Newport area, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 14, 2021.

He was born at the Carrie F. Wright Hospital on Maple Street in Newport on December 17, 1952 to Gertrude (Sartwell) Grenier and Leland “Gabby” Grenier. He was a graduate of Newport High School, class of 1971.

Richard cherished the time he spent with his family, in particular his four daughters and his only son. He was a gifted auto mechanic who enjoyed working on classic cars and building engines. In his younger days, he delighted in taking his motorcycle out on the open road. He was a man of great ingenuity and creativity with which he was able to accomplish endless tasks.

In his later years, he sought peace with God and placed great value on his prayer life and personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his five children Sarah Grenier of Newport; Hannah (Grenier) Clapper of Toledo, Ohio, her husband James, and their two children, Jamie and Amelia; Keturah Grenier of Claremont, NH; Isaiah Grenier of Newport, and Moriah Grenier and her son, Emmett, also of Newport. Additionally, he is survived by his former wife, Karen (Delorier) Grenier of Newport, and his older brother, Robert “Bobby” Grenier and his wife Patricia, of Las Vegas, NV.

Richard was predeceased by his parents, his Aunt Rhoda Sartwell; and uncle and aunt Alton “Pete” and Harriet Sartwell.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick Church, Beech Street in Newport, with Fr. Michael Sartori, celebrant, on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 1 o’clock in the afternoon. Attendees are welcome. The burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Patrick Church Memorial Fund in his memory.
