Robert H. Hodgman, 89
Newport, NH — Robert H. Hodgman, aged 89, peacefully passed away on January 14, 2026 at the Jack Byrne Center in Lebanon, NH. Born in Newport on July 29, 1936, he was the son of the late Harold Hodgman and Rae (Nelson) Hodgman Balla.
Robert married Jean Dombroski, and together they shared more than 68 wonderful years. A devoted husband, he cared deeply for Jean throughout their life together. A loving father, Robert worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He spent many years at Gloenco, retiring as plant manager, and subsequently played a key role in opening and managing Twin Ridge Polaris.
An avid outdoorsman, Robert enjoyed fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling throughout his life. He generously gave back to the community as the trailmaster for the Twin Ridge Mountaineers. Known for his quiet demeanor and dry sense of humor, Robert was recognized for his hardworking and dependable nature. Remarkably, he was still cutting firewood at age 84.
Robert also served our country in the National Guard.
Robert was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Virginia Luck. He is survived by his wife Jean and children, Karen Hebert and her husband Scott of Newbury, NH, and Sandra Gassett of Sedona, AZ; his brother, Bruce Hodgman; three grandchildren, Elisha Greenleaf of Phoenix, AZ, Justin Hebert of San Diego, CA, and Ben Hebert and his wife Dani of Missoula, MT; his great-granddaughter, Lily Hebert; as well as many extended family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jack Byrne Hospice Center.
Calling hours will be held on Monday January 19, 2026 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Goshen, NH.
