Robert "Bob" Jackman Obituary
Robert “Bob” Lee Jackman, lovingly known to his close family as ‘Bup,’ of New London, NH peacefully passed away with his family around him on July 23rd, 2026.
Born on December 28th, 1950 in Poughkeepsie, New York, to William Jackman and Lillian (McAllister) Jackman. Bob grew up in Lexington, Massachusetts and graduated from Lexington High School in 1968. He met the love of his life, Linda (Smith) Jackman on a blind date and they spent the next 50+ years together.
After moving to New Hampshire, they welcomed three wonderful children; Jeffrey Jackman, Jamie Jackman, and John Jackman. They will always lovingly remember him as a devoted, supportive father, father-in-law, and the best grandfather (best Bup) a grandson could ever ask for.
Bob was a loyal employee of LaValley Building Supply Company for 47 years, working up to the very week he passed. He was the “Voice of LaValleys” on local radio shows. Through his hard work with LaValleys and the New Hampshire Retail Lumber Association (NHRLA) he was awarded the prestigious ‘Lumber Person of the Year’ award in 2022. Bob also served as a NHRLA Director from 2014 to present, and Chair of its Legislative Committee since 2022.
Bob was heavily involved in Scouting in New London’s Pack and Troop 71 from 1983 to present. He held positions of Den Leader, Cub Master, Scout Master, and Sunapee District Chair. He also received the District Award of Merit in April of 2002, and the prestigious Silver Beaver Award in 2003.
In addition to family and scouting, Bob also loved many hobbies. His hobbies included motorcycles, cars, golf, boating on Lake Sunapee, and hunting and snowmobiling on Indian Stream in Pittsburg, NH. His favorite hobby was including his grandsons in the things he loved. Driving them in his convertible, taking them on the boat, or making sure they had everything they needed to hunt and snowmobile with him and their parents. He and Linda also loved the time they spent travelling the country. In five cross-country trips in their RV, one cruise, and an Alaskan adventure, they reached the impressive accomplishment of visiting and experiencing all 50 states together.
Bob will be missed by so many, including: his wife, Linda; his three children and their families; Jeffrey and Stefanie Jackman; Jamie Jackman; and John and Kori Jackman. His six grandsons; Jacob, Collin, Bryce, Joseph, Camden, and Callister. His in-laws and their families, and his five siblings and their families, as well as his lifelong best friend, and his family.
