Sandra (Hale) Aldrich

Newport, NH: Sandra Hale Aldrich, 84, passed away on June 26, 2022 at Woodlawn Care Center after suffering a stroke many years ago. 

She was born on March 15, 1938, in Keene, NH, the daughter of Lester Edward Ray Hale and Bessie (Hood) Hale. She had resided in Newport for more than 60 years.

Mrs. Aldrich was raised in Troy, NH and graduated valedictorian from the then Troy High School in 1956. She graduated from Keene Teachers College in 1960 with a Bachelor of Education degree in secondary mathematics and science.

She taught mathematics in the public schools in Newport and Claremont, Claremont Adult Learning Center Diploma Program, and the New Hampshire Community Technical College at Claremont.

Her community activities included Sunday school teacher and youth group leader at South Church, cub scout den mother, treasurer for over 40 years, Newport Teacher's Association, and Newport Service Organization, member of Parents for Recreation at the Newport Recreation Center, and member of Sullivan Grange #8. She was known locally for her talents as a knitter and crafter. She exhibited her work annually at New Hampshire fairs. She was also a big fan of the Boston Red Sox.

Her membership in professional organizations included Newport Teachers' Association, Sugar River Education Association, New Hampshire and New England Association of Teachers of Mathematics, and National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.

Sandra was predeceased by her parents, Lester Hale and Bessie Hale, of ​Troy NH. Surviving family includes her husband of over 60 years, Nelson H. Aldrich, of Newport, NH; and her only son, C. Hank Aldrich of Wessling, Germany.

There will be no calling hours or service per her wishes.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the name of Sandra Aldrich to ​the Woodlawn Care Center.
