Shirley A. (Currier) Jennings

Goshen, NH: Shirley A. Jennings, 82, of Lear Hill Road, died Wednesday, September 29, 2021, surrounded by her children at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.

 

She was born in Unity, NH on July 5, 1939, the daughter of Fred and Josephine (Spaulding) Currier.

 

Shirley had a full-time job as a stay-at-home Mom and her family was always her number one priority.  The matriarch of the family, she was always surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends.  She loved old-time country music and long nights of karaoke with her family.  Shirley knew all of the secret fishing spots and was the best fisherman in the family.  Any kind of cookout or gathering that would include her family was the highlight of her life.  Whether it was playing cards, talking on the porch, or watching the grandchildren playing, she loved it all and was loved by all.

 

She is predeceased by her husband, Edwin L. Jennings, Jr. (April 3, 1938-Nov. 23, 1999), and they were married on Nov. 24, 1956.  She is also predeceased by her parents, great grandchildren, Wyatt and Benson Morin and all of her siblings, Floyd Currier, James Currier, Carol Hazelton, Myrtle Cote, Evelyn Reeves, Fred Currier, Jr, Densmore Currier, Lorraine Willis, Clyde Currier and Stanley Currier, Sr.  Shirley is survived by five children and their spouses, Deborah (Robert) Gannon of Goshen, NH, Edwin L. (Carolyn) Jennings III of Newport, NH, Jean (Wilfred) Reney of Grantham, NH, Tina (Fred) Shampney of Springfield, NH, Sherry (Todd) Morin, Sr. of Newport, NH; grandchildren, Ronald (Kelley) Clough, Jr. of CA, Sherry Waters (Kirk Dustin) of Goshen, NH, Eugene (Christie) Benoit, Jr. of Newport, NH, Jeremy (Samantha) Reney of Grantham, NH, Aaron (Tiffany) Reney of Enfield, NH, Edwin (Krystle) Hodge of Newport, NH, Amanda Hodge (Patrick McNamara) of Newport, NH, David (Sara) Hodge of Canaan, NH, Todd (Kaitlyn) Morin, Jr. of Langdon, NH, Katie Shampney (Lee Parry, Jr.) of Claremont, NH and Haley Morin (William Aufranc) of New London, NH; great grandchildren, Andrew Benoit, Jazmyn McNamara, Elijah Cole, Greyson Parry, Isabelle and Alexis Reney, Paige and Olivia Reney, Alijah, Leah, and Sabrina Hodge, Evah, Ayden, and Layla Hodge, Taylor and Paisley Morin; her in-laws, Audrey Shepard, Joe Jennings, Rosemary Heino, George (Betsy) Jennings, Sr. and Margaret Currier.

 

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. at the Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Newport, NH and burial will follow in the East Unity Cemetery, Unity, NH.
