Sidney C. LaQuire Sr., 79, of Lempster, New Hampshire, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous battle with illness.

Sid shared 54 years of marriage with his wife, Carolyn (Smith) LaQuire, building a life rooted in hard work, devotion, and family. Together they raised their children in the family home Sid built with his own hands in Lempster, New Hampshire. More than just a house, it became the heart of the LaQuire household—a place where family, friends, and anyone in need of a helping hand were always welcome. Over the years, countless loved ones called that home their own, whether for a short time or many years. Sid took great pride in creating a life centered on family, and his legacy of love, generosity, and support lives on through his 6 children, 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and a 26th great-grandchild on the way. 

Sid spent his life working hard. Over the years, he held many jobs, from plumbing and factory maintenance to, later in life, a career as a truck driver. No matter the role, he was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and determination. He took great pride in providing for his family and never shied away from a hard day's work.

An accident eventually forced Sid into retirement, but in many ways it became a blessing in disguise. It gave him more time to devote to the people and passions he loved most—his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as racing, camping, hunting, and fishing. While his working career came to an end, his most important roles as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and huge supporter of those he loved only grew stronger and his heart became softer, especially for his 25 great grandchildren.

Sid spent many years racing cars throughout New England in multiple divisions as a driver and car owner. He competed at tracks across the region, including New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Sid loved the sport and the friendships it brought him. Many will remember one of his favorite cars that he owned the P&S (Punky & Sid) racing #47 splat master. He was known to say that he would rather finish tenth than wreck and not be able to come back to race the following week—a reflection of  his love for the racing community and being able to return to the track time and time again. Racing brought him immense joy, but even more meaningful was the time he spent helping his son and grandsons pursue their own racing careers and sharing in their love for the sport.

While Sid enjoyed racing, his greatest pride was always his family. He found immense joy in watching his children and grandchildren build multiple successful businesses, raise families of their own, and achieve their goals. Whether the achievement was big or small, Sid never missed an opportunity to brag about his family. Nothing brought a bigger smile to his face than sharing stories about his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, often laughing as he recounted the unique and memorable things they would say and do. 

Sid was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Ethel LaQuire; his sister, Doris LaQuire; his brother, Clarence LaQuire; and his beloved grandson, Mark LaQuire II.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Carolyn (Smith) LaQuire.

He also leaves behind his Brother Ed LaQuire Sr., His sisters Lois Kennett and her Husband Maurice and Winnona Young and her husband Tom. His children: Jackie Tallman and her husband Lester, Vicky Welch and her husband EJ, Vicki Lewis and her husband Monte, Sidney LaQuire Jr. and his wife Lisa, Kenneth LaQuire, and Mark LaQuire and his wife Maria.

Sid was the proud grandfather of Kayla Welch-Frink, Kyle Welch and his wife Sarah, Lori Pohl and her husband Jason, Tanya Dulong and her husband Kenny, Tristen Tallman, Bryan LaQuire, Dylan LaQuire, Nicholas LaQuire, Michelle Faria and her husband Steve, Mitchell LaQuire and his wife Brandy, Micheal LaQuire and his wife Alexis, Mercedes Metcalf and her husband Dylon, and Danielle Morrison and her husband David. And the 26 great grandchildren.

Family was Sid’s greatest accomplishment and his greatest source of pride. Nothing brought him more joy than watching his family grow through the generations and seeing the values of hard work, loyalty, and love passed down to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Sid’s legacy lives on through the family he cherished so deeply. He will be remembered for his unwavering love, his strong work ethic, his passion for racing, his generosity, and his dedication to family above all else.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

A private burial service will be held for the immediate family. A Celebration of Life will be held for all who knew and loved Sid on Saturday, June 13th, at his home, located at 1614 US Route 10, Lempster, New Hampshire. The family will be gathering beginning at 12:00 p.m. and will be there throughout the day into the night. Please feel free to stop by at whatever time is most convenient for you.
