Travis Hodgdon Obituary

Lebanon, NH – Travis E. Hodgdon passed away unexpectedly on December 5, 2018 at the age of 47.

Travis was born on October 30, 1971 in Claremont, NH to Dewey Hodgdon and Christy (Shepard) Cusanelli. He attended schools in Perkinsville, VT, Goshen/Lempster Cooperative School in Lempster NH, Grantham Village School in Grantham, NH, and Stevens High School in Claremont, NH. His friendly and outgoing personality lead to him making many friends at each of these schools and he made it a point to stay in contact with them or to search them out when he had lost touch.

Throughout the years Travis worked at Tiffy’s Auto Body, Ruger Firearms, Dartmouth Hitchcock, and most recently Hypertherm where he had been employed for 21 years. His coworkers at Hypertherm referred to him as diligent, thoughtful, dependable, and as the “resident expert” in all the areas that he worked. They spoke of him being kind, welcoming, and a thoughtful person. He had a positive effect on all around him.

When Travis was younger he was an avid hunter, fisher, hiker and enjoyed being in the outdoors. Years later he became a devoted runner. He was part of the Upper Valley Running Group, the Vermont 100 on 100, Ragnar West Virginia Race, and multiple Reach The Beach teams.

Travis is predeceased by his father, Dewey Hodgdon, grandmother Madeline Shepard, grandfather Wayne Shepard, grandmother Reba Hodgdon, grandfather Porter Hodgdon, uncles Allie, Darcy, and Dick Hodgdon and aunts Lynda Downing, Ester Miles, Nylene Turgeon.

He is survived by his daughter Jade Hodgdon and her son Sawyer Graffin of Brattleboro, VT, his mother Christy (Shepard) Cusanelli of Newport, brother Chuck Hodgdon and his wife Sherry of Newport, sister Sheila (Hodgdon) Hulton and her husband George of Newport, stepmother Sandy Hodgdon of Florida, nephew Cody Hodgdon of Tennessee, niece Christa Hulton of Sunapee, nephew Darren Hulton of Sunapee, uncle Rick Shepard and his wife Nancy of Goshen, NH, uncle Reginald Shepard and his wife Jeanne of Lempster, NH and uncle Porter Hodgdon of Vermont.

Calling hours will be Saturday, December 15 from 2:00-5:00 pm at the Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home in Newport, NH. A graveside service and reception will be in the summer of 2019.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Jade Hodgdon and sent to Bar Harbor Bank at PO Box 29, Newport, NH 03773.

UPDATE

A memorial service will be held for Travis on June 15, 2019 at Lake Gunnison (Goshen Ocean) in Goshen, NH. We will be hiking around Lake Gunnison at 10:30 am to celebrate Travis’ love of hiking and the outdoors for anyone that would like to join us. At 12:00 pm we will have his memorial service on top of the dam with Donna Leslie officiating. The reception will be held immediately after the service on the 3rd floor of Salt Hill Pub. Since Travis was well known for his jeans, race shirts, and flannel shirts that he donned daily, we ask that all that plan to join us for the celebration of his life to dress casual for the hike and service.

Parking is very limited for the hike and service plus no parking is allowed on the cemetery side of the dam so it will be important to carpool from the center of Goshen. Thank you.
