Virginia "Ginny" (Sherman) Miller

Newport, NH - On Thursday, July 22, 2021, Virginia “Ginny” Miller, loving mother of three and proud grandmother and great grandmother of 19, passed away at the age of 87.

Ginny was born on December 15,1933 to Maxwell and Harriet Sherman as the second of five children. She graduated from Towle High School in Newport, and later married her husband of 48 years, Arthur Miller, on September 13, 1952 and became the step-mother of one daughter. Together they had two children, Andrew John in 1956 and Coleen Ann in 1958. Over the years Ginny worked in a shoe shop, a dress shop as a seamstress, and later as a CNA for the VNA. Ginny’s love of the ocean was second only to her love for her family and friends.

Ginny is predeceased by her mother and father, her husband, her brothers, Max and Herbie, and several beloved nephews. She is survived by her three children, Sherry, Andy and Coleen, her siblings Janice, Evie and Cliff as well as her 19 grand and great grand children and various nieces, nephews, and cousins. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home from 3 to 5 pm, immediately followed by a funeral service. Her burial will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery at 3 pm the following day. She will be missed.
