Wendell Gardner Jr, a true warrior in every sense of the word, completed his journey on January 26, 2026. He was a man who rose to meet the battle every single day, facing life's challenges with a relentless spirit.
While many saw his external strength, his greatest fight was the one he carried within. At the end of the trail, having given everything he had to his life and his loved ones, the warrior grew weary. He has now found the stillness he deserves, symbolizing the "End of the Trail"—no longer burdened by the struggle, but finally at rest.
His legacy survives through his four children, who carry his legacy and his heart within them. To those who loved him, he remains a permanent part of their souls—always and forever. He has laid down his spear, his fight is over, and his peace has begun.
Wendell's family finds comfort knowing he is walking hand-in-hand with his parents once again.
Wendell is survived by his sister Susan and brother Greg.
He leaves behind four loving children to carry on his legacy: Glen Gardner, Jasmine Spear, Jordan Gardner and Dylan Gardner.
Wendell's children gave him nine beautiful grandchildren. Glen's four children are Hazen, Angelo, Dwayne and Aalysia. Jasmine blessed him with her two beautiful daughters Addison and Olivia. Jordan gave him an advantageous little Owen. Dylan gave him two of his very best pals, Ryder and Mayson.
Wendell's family is so big and so loving. He was loved by so many more, too many to count. Years of love and laughter were shared with him.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 2, 2026, from 5 pm to 7 pm at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Newport, NH. All are welcome to come and share stories of Wendell.
