Newport, NH - William "Bill" C. MacDonald, 68, passed away surrounded by loved ones on September 25, 2020 at the Jack Byrne Center in Lebanon, NH.
Bill was born on November 7, 1951 to the late Charles and Helen (Kinney) MacDonald. As a lifelong Newport resident, Bill attended Newport schools and graduated with the class of 1970.
In May of 1972, he married the love of his life, Sharon Rego. The two shared 48 wonderful years together, including raising their two sons, Toby and Andrew.
Bill worked at New London Floorcraft before working at LaValleys and eventually Sturm-Ruger. He coached 7th and 8th grade football and volunteered for many years at the Newport Food Pantry.
He was well-known for his passion of sports, especially baseball, football, and bowling, and loved being involved with his sons' teams. He enjoyed beekeeping and tending to his bees. However, his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
Bill is predeceased by his parents. Surviving family includes his loving wife, Sharon MacDonald, sons, Toby MacDonald and his wife, Jennifer, of Waterbury, CT, and Andrew MacDonald and his wife, Willow, of Newport, grandchildren, Owen, Alec, Oliver, and Lincoln, brother, Bruce MacDonald of Newport, niece, Jennifer Root, and cousin, Mary Walter and her husband, Jim.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 2, 2020 at 2 pm at North Newport Cemetery. All are welcome to attend and share their memories and stories of Bill.
