Claremont, NH: Willis E. Brown, Jr., 93, passed away at The Jack Byrne Hospice Center in Lebanon, NH on July 9, 2026.


Willis was born in Concord, NH on February 8, 1933 to the late Willis E. Brown, Sr. and Alice (Day) Brown.


He worked as a land surveyor and spent many years working in the Public Works Department for the City of Claremont and the state of New Hampshire. One of his favorite past times was traveling to Florida with his beloved wife, Constance Brown, who sadly predeceased him in 2023. While in Florida, they volunteered for the Salvation Army, as well as helping people around their neighborhood after a hurricane.


Willis also volunteered his time at the Bishop Store House for their Church, and by knitting and donating blankets, hats, and scarves for CHAD and the homeless. He was always willing to help others.


He was a skilled wood carver, a hard worker, and a provider for his family. He loved gardening, square dancing, camping, and just being outdoors. He also loved animals and raised a small farm of rabbits, pigs, and a cow, as well as dogs and cats.


He was predeceased by his wife, Constance, and daughter, Beth Chesley. He is survived by his son Hugh (Janet) Brown and a daughter Diane (Mark) Collins, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.  

 

A funeral service will be held for Willis on Friday, July 17, 2026 at 11 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 5431 US-5, Ascutney, VT 05089, followed by burial at Pleasant Street Cemetery, Claremont, NH.
