Steven Ralph Hosmer

Newport, NH: Steven Ralph Hosmer, son of late Ralph Hosmer and Mabel (Nelson) Hosmer passed away peacefully on December 10, 2015 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center after a long term health issue.  Steve passed surrounded by loved ones.

Steven "Stevie" was born July 3, 1954 in Strafford, VT.  He lived his adult life in the Upper Valley and Newport, NH.  He had a few long term jobs, the most recent was at Dartmouth College as a maintenance man.  He worked there 17 years and was loved by all.

Steve enjoyed spending time with his family and dogs.  He loved being outside and listening to music.  In the summer he loved swimming and campfires.  He also loved to draw and was very good at it.  He loved old cars and motorcycles. 

He was predeceased by four brothers, Everett from Madison, CT; Harry of Corinth, VT; Jeffrey of Burke, VT; and Elwin "Chuck" from Grantham, NH, and one sister, Virginia Paul of Montpelier, VT.

Steve is survived by his loving daughter Jessica and her husband Jeffrey Frye; three granddaughters, Olivia Denton and Makayla and Rileigh Frye; one grandson, Hunter Frye of Newport, NH; two brothers, Ronald of Skowhegan, ME and Bruce of Grantham, NH; five sisters, Priscilla Bedell of White River Junction, VT, Janice Sanborn of Edgewater, FL, Betty McIntire of Pittsfield, ME, Robin Tuscan of Madison, ME, and Patricia Gould of Bingham, ME; and lots of nieces and nephews. 

Friends may call on the family on Saturday, January 16, 2016 from 2-4pm at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main St., Newport, NH. 

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Steve's name to an animal shelter of your choice or to the funeral home to help defray the funeral expenses.
