Susan M. (McGilvary) Taves

Newport, NH: Susan M. Taves, 68, passed away at her home on November 5, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was born on August 15, 1948 in Gloucester, MA to the late Elmer and Georgine (McGilvary) Hill. 

Susan grew up in Gloucester graduating from Gloucester High School.  She worked as an LNA and an aide at several places in the Newport/Kearsarge.  She worked at Kearsarge High School for many years and was affectionately referred to as "Gram" by her students. 

Susan was a former member of a shooting club in Gloucester.   She liked traveling and spending time with her family at the ocean.  She played Bingo and would occasionally enjoy a gambling trip. 

Susan was predeceased by her parents and by a brother, Peter Roy.

Survivors include her son, Gerald Taves and his fiancé, Kristin Teheen of Newport, NH, daughter, Kimberly Jenkins and her husband James of Newbury, NH, brother, Alan Hill of Magnolia, MA, grandchildren, Brittany Jenkins, Ryan Jenkins, Devin Taves, and Savannah LaFlamme and many close friends.

A private memorial service will be held.
