Bernard G. Dunphy

 
 Newport, NH: Bernard G. Dunphy, 93, died on September 6, 2016 after a brief period of declining health.  He was born on September 5, 1923 in North Stratford, NH to the late James L. and Ivy E. (Johnson) Dunphy.  He grew up in Claremont and attended Stevens High School. 
  
 Bernard served his country in the Merchant Marines.  He worked as a Purchasing Manager for Capewell Manufacturing in Hartford, CT until his retirement in 1984.  He enjoyed taking care of his property on Springbrook Road in Newport and kept an organized and spotless home.  He enjoyed boating, fishing, and going out to dinner with his family and friends.  Bernard loved the campground at Rand Pond and liked to have family cookouts.  He was a great  person and a loving husband to his wife, Louise, who died in 2001.
  
 Bernard was predeceased by his wife, parents, brothers, and 3 brothers-in-law. 
  
He is survived by several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
 
 A graveside service will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery in Newport on Monday, September 12, 2016 at 11 A.M.
