I was so upset about hearing of Ruth's passing and to have missed her service. She holds a special place in my heart. I loved visiting with her, and had the privilege to stay at her house with she and Bill many years ago. She made me feel so welcome and I could always count on her for support and conversation. She was a very special, hard working woman. I am blessed to have known she and Bill.

I am very sad to just learn that Ruth passed away last year. She was a wonderful person, brave, honest and so very kind. She took me in many years ago and through her kindness and straight-talking gave me a strength that I know saved me and I often tell my children about her and the wise things she taught me. Her work with the birds and other wild-life was extra-ordinary and I was so lucky she let me help. She was so funny, so smart. She loved the woods and everything in it. She had a wonderful vegetable patch and sold cut flowers to help support the birds. The rest she payed from her own pocket. We worked together on cleaning up the river when the sewage works were having terrible problems. It wasn't easy but she was stead-fast.
My warmest wishes and condolences to Ruth's friends and family. I know you must miss her terribly. We kept in touch on and off over the years, I always hoped I would get back to visit her again. I hope she knew with out doubt how very special she was to me and so many others. I think of her often and always will.

I was so sad to learn of Ruth's passing.
I met Ruth years ago when I was a kid and brought her some baby birds. Years later Ruth and I came to know each other when she adopted a dog, Lizzie from me. I learned she had worked with my Nana, Dolly at the Newport Hospital years ago.
I just loved Ruth's spunk. She was a great woman. My heart goes out to her family, friends and especially her furkids who I am sure miss her dearly.
Rest Easy Ruth!

I was sorry to hear of Ruth's passing and had only heard recently from Carlton about how ill she was. I so enjoyed speaking with and seeing Ruth - her New Hampshire-isms, her straight forward, no baloney way of saying things. I loved it! She would always call me "Verna's niece" (Peggy once in a while) as she and my paternal aunt (Verna Cote) were both OR techs at the same time, my Aunt Verna at New London Hospital and Ruth at Newport Hospital. They were friends and attended many meetings, etc, together so a connection she always remembered. She would also always ask me if I had heard from Dr. (Volker) Bradley and was he OK. She thought the world of him as well as the doctors I work with (and worked with) here in New London. And she always loved telling stories of her dogs! A true diamond in the rough and she will be missed, for sure! Peggy Prew
