Welcome to the memorial page for

Harley B. Norris

September 1, 2016

Newport, NH: Harley B. Norris passed peacefully in his sleep after a courageous battle with cancer at New London Hospital Care Center on Sept. 1, 2016 with his family by his side.  He was born in Highgate, VT in June 1934 and later moved with his family to Newport, NH.  He was a great kid who grew into a kind, honest and hardworking man who served his country in the Air Force at an early age and later was employed by United Construction of Newport, NH for many years until becoming self employed operating his own business (Harley's Construction).  He had many friends and a couple of great partners that worked with him over the years, including his nephew Matt Pollari, Kenny Lyman, and Glen West, who was like a son to Harley that he never had.  Also, a special thanks goes to Tom Hartwell who was a big help to Harley over the last few years.

He will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved him, especially his rescue dog Marigold.  One of his favorite pastimes was shooting pool with his brother Mike on the weekends.  The competition between them was a true joy to watch.

He is predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Anna (Partlow) Norris, and his previous wife Margaret Norris who passed in 2010.

He is survived by his present wife and friend, Martha M. Norris of Newport, NH and brothers, Bill and his wife Bernice Norris of Spruce Pine, NC, Michael and his wife Mary Norris of Unity, NH, and sister, Linda Haley of Newport, NH, stepdaughters, Katie and her husband John Gioldassis of Sunapee, NH, Robin and her husband Ted Forsi of Soldatna, AK, Janet and her husband Dave Recktenwald of White Lake, MI, and Christine Bodwell of Union Grove, WI and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Harley requested that there be no services and in lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to VFW or Fallen Heroes.

The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.
