I am so sorry to have just seen this. I was in Newport yesterday and could have been at the service to share it with you. I loved Floy's dry sense of humor at our family reunions. We lost touch when our Smith side of the family passed away and we all moved out of Newport. Seeing her picture brings back so many memories of the 4th of July on the farm in Unity.

A truly unique, one of kind person. Mrs. Smith is one of my fondest memories of MHS (class of 76). Her fairness and teaching style should be the template for all others who strive to be a "good" teacher. "Smitty" you will be missed.
Condolences to her family.

My condolences to the family! Enjoyed Mrs. Smith as my US History teacher at Marlborough High. One of the only high school teachers to read a chapter a day to us from a book! After having my brothers before me she was a little nervous to have another Nason but she was relieved to find I enjoyed her class!

Mrs. Smith was my favorite teacher. I moved to Marlborough from New York in 1972. Smitty ( as we called her) liked my accent so she made me read all the time. I have nothing but fond memories of Smitty and I know there is a place in heaven waiting for her!

With Deepest Sympathy

I haven't seen Floy in a while. I am a retired Keene High School teacher. Floy was loved by the staff; I knew my classes were in good hands when she subbed for me.
She made a great connection with the students and gained their respect. I admired her knitted projects, what talent. She loved her family. I had the opportunity to have a granddaughter or two in my classes. My sympathy to your family.

I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family of Floy Smith. I am a retired educator from Keene High School. Floy was my substitute on many occasions. Floy took care of my classes as if they were her own. When she substituted for other teachers in the "T" area of the school, we always had a chance to chat and discuss students of today and as always, family. She loved her family. Floy had a great sense of humor and the most friendly demeanor.
