Mary Jane Hitchcock

Newport, NH: Mary Jane Hitchcock passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Woodlawn Nursing Home after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.  Born in Newport July 3, 1944 to the late Richard J. and Phyllis M. (Hoyt) Hitchcock.  Mary was a resident of Newport her entire life.  She graduated from Towle High School in 1962 and from Nursing School in 1963 with her LNA License from Portsmouth, NH.  Though she was a nurse, Mary's true calling was taking care of children, from a home daycare to working at a local daycare, to being a private nanny for the Barnes family for many years.  Erin, Renee and Kirt grew to be like family to Mary.

Mary enjoyed spending extra time with family and friends, she enjoyed camping, Bingo, weekend trips with Nancy and trips to Florida to visit Pat.

She was predeceased by her parents and a grandson, Steven A. Beauchaine.

Survivors include her brother, Joe Hitchcock of Claremont, NH, her children, Barbara Partridge and husband Allen of Warner, NH, William Wharem, Jr. of Pittsburg, NH and Becky L. Keenan and husband Scott of Newport, NH, a step-daughter, Carol Rohrer and husband Richard of Barrington, NH, grandchildren, Scott, Drew, and Benjamin Richardson, Jennifer Richardson, Jeremy Richardson, Alexandra Richardson, David Beauchaine, Skylar Wharem, Scott Rohrer and Jodi Hall, great grandchildren, Tanner, Leah, Alaina, Noel, Desi, Carter, Ava-Lynn, Nicholas, and Ryan.  She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins, a lifelong dear friend, Patricia Popalka and husband Jerry of Florida, and a wonderful long time friend, Nancy Harold and husband Bill of Newport, NH.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 11 A.M. at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main St., Newport, NH.  Burial will follow at St. Patricks Cemetery in Newport.
