Olga (Derkach) Takush

New London, NH – Olga Takush, 93, passed away on September 20, 2015 at the Clough Center after a period of declining health.  She was born on August 14, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of Russian immigrants, the late Helen and Peter Derkach.  Olga always continued to embrace her Russian heritage.  Before moving to New London she resided in Flushing and Pleasant Valley, NY.  Olga was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grand-grandmother.  Many friends and family, who display her watercolors, will remember her as an aspiring artist.  Olga also loved to read and crochet.  During her working years she was a legal secretary in New York City then later became a chair side dental assistant.

Predeceased by her husband of 42 years, John in 1987 and brother, Nicholas Derkach, she is survived by two daughters, Melanie Payne of Hayes, Virginia and Valerie Ruopp and son-in-law Robert of Sunapee, NH.  The family also includes grandchildren Matt Payne and wife Tiffany, Marissa Rortvedt and husband Victor, brother Lenny Derkach and his wife MaryAnn, and several nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by her beloved great –grandsons, Michael and Riley, who were the joys of her life.

Olga will be buried next to her husband in Calverton National Cemetery on Long Island, NY on September 24, 2015.  Contributions in her memory may be made to the Lake Sunapee Region Visiting Nurses and Hospice, PO Box 2209, New London, NH  03257.
